Precision Toolmaking Opportunity with a Global Medical Device Manufacturer

Cpl are partnering with a leading global medical device manufacturing organisation to recruit an experienced Toolmaker / Tool Room Technician for their advanced manufacturing facility in North Co. Kildare.

This is an excellent opportunity for a highly skilled Toolmaker to join a world-class engineering environment supporting the manufacture of complex medical device components. Working within a modern, high-volume precision injection moulding operation, you will play a critical role in maintaining and optimising high-value production tooling to ensure maximum uptime, product quality and manufacturing efficiency.

The successful candidate will work closely with Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Quality and Maintenance teams while supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the toolroom.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain, service and repair high-precision injection mould tooling to maximise production performance and minimise downtime.
• Diagnose tooling issues and carry out fault finding, repair and preventative maintenance on complex moulds.
• Work on a wide variety of precision tooling including:
  • Multi-cavity moulds
  • Hot Runner moulds
  • Valve-gated moulds
  • Stack moulds
• Manufacture, modify and repair precision components, jigs, fixtures and spare tooling parts using conventional toolroom equipment.
• Assemble and fit precision tooling components to exact engineering tolerances.
• Support new tool builds, tool trials, commissioning and process validations.
• Assist with mould changeovers and tooling optimisation activities.
• Work alongside Production and Process Engineering teams to resolve tooling-related manufacturing issues.
• Maintain tooling records, maintenance documentation and preventative maintenance schedules.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on tooling reliability, quality and production efficiency.
• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with GMP, quality standards and health & safety requirements.

What We're Looking For

• Qualified Toolmaker (or recognised Toolmaking Apprenticeship).
• Significant post-apprenticeship experience within a precision toolroom environment.
• Strong experience maintaining and repairing injection mould tooling in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
• Excellent knowledge of precision machining, fitting and assembly techniques.
• Experience working with Hot Runner and multi-cavity mould systems is highly desirable.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex tooling issues and implement effective repairs.
• Strong understanding of engineering drawings and precision measurement equipment.
• Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems would be advantageous.
• Excellent problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Self-motivated with a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
