Production Shift Supervisor – Chemical Manufacturing

Dublin 12 | Rotating Shift Pattern (3 cycle Mon to Fri)

Cpl are delighted to be partnering with our client, a globally recognised leader within the Chemical Manufacturing sector, who are currently seeking to hire an experienced Production Shift Supervisor for their high-volume manufacturing facility based in Ballyfermot, Dublin 12.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Production Supervisor or Manufacturing Team Leader with experience in a highly regulated process manufacturing environment to join a well-established international organisation offering excellent career progression, advanced manufacturing exposure, and a market-leading salary and benefits package.

A key requirement for this role is that candidates will hold a 3rd level qualification in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, Process Engineering, or another Chemistry-related discipline. Due to the complexity of the chemical manufacturing processes and the technical nature of the operation, this academic background is considered essential for success in the position.

The successful candidate will join a rotating 3-cycle shift pattern:

•           Day Shift – Monday to Friday

•           Evening Shift – Monday to Friday

•           Night Shift – Monday to Thursday only

The Role

Reporting directly to the Plant Operations Manager, with a dotted reporting line to the Head of Continuous Improvement & Process Excellence, the Production Shift Supervisor will be responsible for leading and coordinating all shift production activities to ensure operational targets, safety standards, quality metrics and manufacturing KPIs are consistently achieved.

This position plays a critical leadership role within the site manufacturing operation and will involve driving production performance, continuous improvement initiatives, employee engagement and operational excellence across the plant.

The successful candidate will lead a team operating within a technically advanced chemical manufacturing environment and will be expected to optimise manufacturing processes, minimise downtime and support ongoing process improvement activities.

Key Responsibilities

•           Lead, supervise and coordinate all production activities during shift operations

•           Ensure production schedules and manufacturing targets are achieved safely and efficiently

•           Drive operational performance across throughput, downtime reduction, waste reduction and changeover improvements

•           Maintain full compliance with all Health & Safety, Environmental, Quality and operational procedures

•           Support continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies

•           Develop and motivate production teams to maximise engagement and performance

•           Work closely with Planning, Quality, Warehousing, Engineering and Process Excellence teams to achieve site objectives

•           Monitor and report on production KPIs and daily operational performance

•           Ensure all shift documentation, production records and site reports are accurately maintained

•           Identify opportunities for process optimisation and cost reduction initiatives

•           Support engineering, maintenance and site service activities during shift operations

•           Participate in operational improvement projects and manufacturing efficiency programmes

•           Ensure adherence to GMP, BRC or other regulated manufacturing standards where applicable

Candidate Requirements

•           A 3rd level qualification is essential in one of the following disciplines:

o           Chemical Engineering

o           Industrial Chemistry

o           Process Engineering

o           Manufacturing Engineering with strong chemical/process manufacturing exposure

o           Another Chemistry or Process Manufacturing related discipline

•           Minimum 5 years’ experience in a production leadership or supervisory role within a regulated process manufacturing environment

•           Strong understanding of complex chemical manufacturing processes is essential

•           Previous experience within industries such as:

o           Chemical Manufacturing

o           Pharmaceutical Manufacturing

o           Petrochemical

o           Food & Beverage Processing

o           Brewing / Distilling

o           GMP Controlled Manufacturing Environments

•           Proven people leadership and team management experience

•           Experience driving Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives

•           Lean / Six Sigma certification or practical experience highly desirable

•           Strong understanding of manufacturing KPIs and operational performance management

•           Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities

•           Strong communication and interpersonal skills

•           Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced shift manufacturing environment

•           Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office and SAP experience desirable

•           Health & Safety qualification would be advantageous

•           Project Management experience would also be beneficial
